Louis Vuitton's monographed bags have been associated with style and luxury for over 150 years. Born in 1821, Louis Vuitton left home at the age of 13 to seek his fortune in Paris. He became an apprentice box-maker and eventually gained introductions at the French Royal Court. With the royal endorsement, Louis opened his first workshop in 1854, where his skills and innovations established his brand as one of Europe's most popular.

Louis passed his passion for crafting beautiful luggage to his son, Georges, and later his grandson Gaston-Louis, ensuring the company continued to grow and survive two world wars to become the renowned luxury brand it is today. Louis Vuitton stores opened in cities worldwide and expanded into other high-end brands. The 1987 merger with Möet Hennessy created the megabrand LVMH, and the 1997 appointment of Marc Jacobs launched Louis Vuitton into the world of fashion.
